Our business
The study and intellectual exchange initially focused on the evolution of case law, which revolved around the compensatory protection of personal injury. In particular, attention was paid to the long-standing debate regarding the constitutionally oriented interpretation of Article 2059 of the Civil Code, aimed at ensuring truly comprehensive compensation for psychological and physical damages resulting from torts, overcoming the limitations imposed by this provision. The Valore Uomo Association has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Existential Damage. Numerous conferences have been held, often traveling, to allow everyone to participate; some have even been international in scope. Numerous publications have been published over the years, often aimed at encouraging discussion when debate on the most relevant topics has been lacking.
The magazine Il Valore dell'Uomo, coeval with the Association, has provided many with the opportunity to offer multidisciplinary information aimed at training an entire generation of jurists and related disciplines, particularly forensic medicine, with which it maintains a constant link. It has also made numerous contributions to Parliament on legislative proposals regarding issues of importance to individuals, such as insurance: Legislative Decree 70/2000, Law no. 57/2001, Law no. 229/2003, Legislative Decree no. 209/2005, and the Court Settlement Tables. The Association played an active role in the legislation on the Institute of Mediation (Law 98/2013), and in the legislation on provisions regarding the safety of care and the patient, as well as the professional liability of healthcare professionals (Law no. 24/2017). Looking to the future, two competitions for students are underway: the first, to prevent violence against women and the most vulnerable by celebrating differences; the second, "My Friend the Vaccine," featuring a collection of children's stories, to provide accurate information and spread the culture of vaccination.
Finally, the Value Award.
To greater things!
Chi siamo
In 1998, when we introduced the newly formed Valore Uomo Association to the legal world and institutions, we identified its "essence" in providing a cultural contribution to the Protection of the Inviolable Human Rights of the Person, focusing on the Study of Harm to the Person.
We brought to general attention the importance of constant reflection on the great theme of "Human Value", which was neither too generic and all-encompassing nor aseptic and specialized and, therefore, distant from the lives of people.
The Valore Uomo Association is committed to promoting the protection of human rights primarily through ongoing efforts to disseminate knowledge, culture, and professional training. This intense study and training program, aimed at professionals and associates (lawyers, judges, university professors of law and medicine, notaries), aims to keep the debate on fundamental issues related to the protection of human rights alive.
These first twenty-one years have been intense and marked by significant moments. There have been a succession of conferences, seminars, debates, cultural events, hearings, and parliamentary debates.
In recent years, the Association has sought to be even more directly present in civil society. We have thus reached out to the protagonists of the future—young people—by organizing competitions for schools and establishing the Valore Award, awarded to those who work for the progress and well-being of humanity.
